Well then, just a few weeks after we get Ody back my mom takes me to my first violin lesson today. Afterwards we went to the local Target to pick up school supplies and as we went to the Walmart Neighborhood Mart for eggs, the Ody started cutting out and intermittently stalling. My mom coaxed it to a parking space and called my dad before we went "shopping", meaning we get groceries and I have to try on a bunch of stupid outfits. I was in a huge, construction worker orange jacket when my dad came, and we went back to the car, which had resorted to starting and shuddering but not moving. Both my parents tried to rev it but, yeah, nothing. (I'm thinking ECU?) So we went home in the V70 (pic below of me washing it this weekend, Volvo brake dust gets everywhere...), which has been a saint through all these troubles. If the problem is in the engine, we're covered under a 6 month warranty. If not, we're screwed. This marks the first time Ody's ever left us stranded, but at least it didn't do it on the highway. Its being towed to the dealership tomorrow and is sleeping at Walmart tonight... School's just starting to pick up too...

It's possible you filled up somewhere that had bad fuel and now have a bad fuel filter, but it's hard to make out exactly what the issue is. So, it will start but won't go and has no power?

This post makes me so glad that I live as far away from my family as possible.

Sounds very possibly like a clogged fuel filter. If the fuel filter gets clogged, then the engine doesn't get enough fuel to run properly. It's very possible to encounter suddenly like you describe, because sometimes after a fuel station has been refilled from a tanker, there is sediment or bad fuel stirred up. Most stations have inline filters that are supposed to catch that, but those filters don't save you 100% of the time.

Of course, it's also possible something much worse has happened, but without being on hand to *hear* what's going on, I wouldn't have any better guesses. I'm assuming the coolant and oil and everything are as they should be?

It's not a reference. I don't have to go shopping with anyone else, I'm not required to help out family members doing things that I don't agree with, and I don't have to deal with ignorance or poor decisions, and my own wellbeing isn't put into jeopardy when someone in my family does something stupid.

There's a certain level of success and satisfaction that I get from being able, from when I wake up to when I sleep, to work on things that I have chosen, entirely on my own, to work on because I believe they are important and what I want to do. That can't be done if I have to appeal and constantly maintain a status quo with family members.

Your post just reminded me a bit of what that used to be like, having to live with family, and made me very glad that I no longer do.

Well, if you read other posts with this tag "Ody News" then it'll let you know that it has a new (used) engine since two weeks ago and they supposedly checked everything then...also, when the v70 had a clogged fuel filter it ran, but roughly, and wouldnt start cold...however, the Ody cranks over and starts fine, it just doesnt go, and after you crank it there's literally no noise, but if you're in the car it feels like you're on thos really annoying tiny speed bumps they have in parking lots, which is what i thought we were on when it started cutting out the first time...
